Raising our glasses to Cedars CanSupport

Colleagues, friends and family came together for a fabulous fundraising cocktail to show their support for our Dynamite Dragons! This event, held in our beautiful Atrium at the heart of our GDI Campus, was the perfect opportunity to mingle and laugh with attendees, while enjoying great food and wine. The funds raised by this event will benefit the Cedars CanSupport Foundation.

This charity provides free psychological and emotional support to patients battling cancer, along with their families. On September 10, 2016, our Dynamite Dragons will be paddling their hearts out for the seventh year in a row to support this noble cause!

A small event that made a big difference!

Imagine being unable to walk, tie your own shoes, kick a ball or simply stand up. These are just a few of many challenges people diagnosed with spastic diplegia Cerebral Palsy must face on a daily basis. Melanie Jay, a very determined Sales Director, is close to a little boy named Alesandro, who is suffering from such a disease. Like Alesandro, Melanie is never one to give up. When she learned, through Alesandro’s mom that a very complex neurosurgical procedure, only available in the United States, could change Alesandro’s life forever, Melanie did what she does best and she mobilized people. The “Alesandro’s Wish to Walk” Foundation needed to raise $150,000 to pay for surgery and continuous medical care.

Melanie and her entire team jumped in to help raise the money needed. Together, through various fundraising activities (Gala, BBQ, raffles, wine pulls, silent auction, comedy show), they raised close to $20,000. Last December, the goal was met: Alesandro got the surgery and was able to take his first steps.

Melanie is a true example that collectively we can make a difference. Melanie brought leadership to a whole new level. Her involvement was honoured at GD’s recent annual Gala, where she received the Community Ambassador of the Year Award. This little boy might have a long journey ahead of him, but he can count on Melanie and Groupe Dynamite to support him along the way.

Dynamite for the cure

Every year, Groupe Dynamite prides itself on making a difference and this year is no different!

From May 1st to May 14th, Groupe Dynamite actively participated in the CURE campaign, with over 350 stores and 700 employees at Head Office raising money to support breast cancer research and awareness.

For every Dynamite denim item purchased during this two-week period, $2 was given to the CURE Foundation. As a token of appreciation, customers making a denim purchase also benefited from a 25% discount on their next transaction.

At Head Office, flowers were sold, just in time for Mother’s Day. One hundred bouquets of pink tulips sold out in one afternoon!

Finally, on May 10th, our Head Office employees took part in CURE’s #NationalDenimDay and proudly wore their best denim outfits to work. Some of them even went the extra mile, opting for a head-to-toe look! To make the day extra special, our Atrium Bistro added mini pink cupcakes to their daily menu—a perfect way to treat ourselves while supporting a cause we believe in!
