Wear it like you mean it

Groupe Dynamite has been a proud supporter of the CURE Foundation for 20 years. On National Denim Day, wearing jeans has never been so important! To support the cause and to honour a sister, a mother, a friend or a colleague who is battling breast cancer, our teams wore their hottest denim outfits.

For this special occasion, we sold pink lemonade and cupcakes at Head Office.

For one month, all Dynamite stores across Canada offered special promotions. Whenever denim was purchased, $2 was given to the CURE Foundation and the customer received 25% off one item on their next purchase.

All of these fundraising initiatives allowed us to raise $50,000 for the CURE Foundation. Not only did we contribute to making a difference, but we also had fun doing it! That’s the key to a successful fundraiser!

At Groupe Dynamite, we are proud to make a difference by annually contributing to fundraising events in an effort to support different causes that we care about. Once again this year, our employees worked hard to raise a maximum amount of donations, especially for the Cedars CanSupport Program, Centraide, The Salvation Army, and The Starlight Children’s Foundation. Here is a recap of what we accomplished in 2017:

  • Cedars Cancer Foundation: For an eighth year in a row, the Dynamite Dragons rowed the Lachine canal in a dragon boat on September 9th. Having implicated themselves in several fundraising initiatives for the McGill University Health Centre’s (MUHC) Cedars CanSupport Program, the Dynamite Dragons raised $13,554, which was 8% more than their original target amount! This donation will help the program to continue to provide psychological, practical, and humanitarian support and financial assistance to cancer patients and their families.
  • The Salvation Army: A few weeks before Christmas, a dozen boxes were placed around the office and the Distribution Centre to collect non-perishable food items as well as new toys and clothes. The generosity of our employees allowed several families in need to have an enjoyable and happy holiday season!
  • Centraide: Through spins, draws, and a cocktail event, we came together once again to support the Centraide of Greater Montreal campaign. Thanks to the support of our Executive team and Ambassadors, we raised a total of $55,471 with a record employee participation rate of 85%!
  • Holiday campaign for the Starlight Children’s Foundation: For just over a month, our store employees asked customers if they would like to donate to the Starlight Foundation.  This foundation is known for bringing the joy of childhood back into the lives of sick children and their families by offering them a little break from the daily stress of medical treatments. Thanks to everyone’s participation and generosity, we raised a total of $93,467!

We’d like to thank our volunteers and everyone who contributed to making a difference once again!

Until next year!

Groupe Dynamite for a CURE

Every year, Groupe Dynamite supports the CURE Foundation by launching a campaign at Head Office and in stores. This May, we sold pink tulips and pink smoothies in our Atrium, and we also collected part of the proceeds from in-store and e-commerce denim sales.

We are pleased to announce that we have raised almost $40,000 that will go directly to the fight against cancer! A big thank you to everyone who participated in the campaign this year. We truly appreciate every gesture.

Row, row, row the Dragon Boat

This year, the Dynamite Dragons will be rowing the Dragon Boat for the eighth time! We have raised over $100,000 for the McGill University Health Center’s Cedars CanSupport program since we first started paddling in 2009, and we’re not about to stop now!

Our objective is to raise another $12,500 this year and race against other like-minded companies on the Lachine Canal on Saturday, September 9th. Until then, we will be hosting all sorts of activities to raise funds for this worthy cause. The people at our Head Office should look out for 50-50 draws, a bake sale, 5 à 7 cocktails, and more!

We’re almost halfway to our objective already! Wish us luck!

The Centraide campaign is in full swing!

Groupe Dynamite is proud to support the Centraide of Greater Montreal Foundation in its annual online fundraising campaign. Until November 18, 2016, let’s stand together to create an impact on our community and make this campaign a success.

In an effort to become more aware of the importance of Centraide, our ambassadors took a bus tour of Verdun and visited L’Ancre des jeunes, a great example of an organization that works to support school reenrollment and to prevent the educational and social dropout phenomenon among young people.

This was also the occasion for them to visit the Wellington-De L’Église sector and learn more about this area, where one out of every four people lives under the low-income rate.

We also hosted a fundraising cocktail at our Head Office to remind us of how fortunate we are to have each other, and to encourage our people to give back, in the spirit of generosity, to make a difference in our community.

Several additional activities will be taking place in the upcoming days in order to increase awareness for the Centraide cause. Our campaign ambassadors are more involved than ever and we are confident that we will reach our objective of a 100% participation rate by November 18th!

Team Spirit at its Best!

The Dynamite Dragons made some serious waves this weekend during the Cedars CanSupport Dragon Boat Race and Festival, a McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) initiative.

The team joined forces and proudly paddled with passion to raise $12,675! Over the years, Groupe Dynamite has donated over $100,000 to this cause that’s dear to its heart. The Cedars CanSupport program provides free psychological, practical and humanitarian support, and financial assistance to cancer patients and their families.

This event brought together friends, families, patients, health professionals, and public figures, all in the spirit of sharing and connecting to support this worthy cause.

Operation Back-2-School

Employees from stores across the USA teamed up to help families in need. The mission: donate 200 backpacks filled with school supplies. As a friendly challenge, the district that collected the most backpacks would have the privilege of selecting the school that would receive the donation. Motivation was high and it showed, because in the end the objective was surpassed, with a total of 675 backpacks donated! These children will go back to school with huge smiles on their faces. Go Team USA! Thank you for making a difference!

Fresh vegetables all summer long!

This summer, employees will be receiving fresh veggie baskets, thanks to a partnership between GDI and micro-farm Ferme La Machine, who will be delivering the baskets to our Head Office. Our Atrium kitchen will also participate in this program in order to offer a menu filled with local, fresh, in-season vegetables that will delight our palates!

Ferme La Machine is a family-run farm, located in the Outaouais region, which sells sustainably-grown vegetables for local consumption. It’s a true pleasure to provide our people with the opportunity to enjoy delicious homegrown veggies, while supporting a local business.

Raising our glasses to Cedars CanSupport

Colleagues, friends and family came together for a fabulous fundraising cocktail to show their support for our Dynamite Dragons! This event, held in our beautiful Atrium at the heart of our GDI Campus, was the perfect opportunity to mingle and laugh with attendees, while enjoying great food and wine. The funds raised by this event will benefit the Cedars CanSupport Foundation.

This charity provides free psychological and emotional support to patients battling cancer, along with their families. On September 10, 2016, our Dynamite Dragons will be paddling their hearts out for the seventh year in a row to support this noble cause!

A small event that made a big difference!

Pay It Forward

Groupe Dynamite pays it forward to Huellas De Pan, a non-profit organization that works to provide nutritious food to children and families in need in Mexico. As part of the President’s Club recognition trip to Mexico, we donated toys, clothing and cleaning supplies to support the organization’s mission. It was a wonderful, fun and heartwarming event. We laughed, cried, and enjoyed this rewarding experience as we put smiles on kids’ faces. This was definitely an amazing way to create a positive impact by connecting and giving back to a local community!
