Once Upon A Grad

ABOUT LÉA

How did you end up at Groupe Dynamite?

After I graduated, I worked in a recruitment firm for a few months. From that experience, I learned that I loved working in recruitment, but that I wanted to do it in a corporate environment. I have also always wanted to work in the fashion industry. Plus, when I found out that Groupe Dynamite had a grad program, I knew I needed to be a part of it.

Can you briefly describe your academic background?

I completed a Bachelor’s of Commerce with a concentration in Human Resources at UQAM.

What was the highlight of your grad experience?

The highlight of my experience was making friends in the program, getting to meet a lot of people from the business in different departments, networking and being able to use these connections in my career at Groupe Dynamite.

What is your current role at Groupe Dynamite and what does it entail?

I am a Campus Recruiter. I take care of the recruitment for the Graduate Rotational Program and some of the Summer Internship Program. I also do campus events and host networking and recruiting events. On top of that, I also take care of integrating the new grads and managing the new cohorts.

What do you enjoy most about working on the graduate program?

The part I enjoy most is meeting new, young talent and helping them launch their career and develop throughout the year.

So far, what are you most proud of?

Seeing grads I have hired being happy in their roles and succeeding in their careers.

ADVICE FOR FUTURE GRADS

What advice would you give a young grad who would like to work at GD?

I would advise students to try and get some retail experience while they are still in school. Having this experience helps future grads understand the retail business from the ground up and we value that. More importantly, however, we like people that are passionate, self-starters and willing to always grow and evolve in the fashion industry.

As a young grad, how did you feel supported at Groupe Dynamite?
What opportunities does the company have to offer upcoming graduates?

I felt supported by my Managers and Directors and was happy to have been given that trust and guidance. When I started in my role, I was quickly given projects where my opinion mattered and where I felt like my voice was being heard!

In your opinion, what sets Groupe Dynamite apart from other companies?

What sets us apart is the power we give to the younger generation. Your ideas will be heard and valued and you have the power to make a difference and put your stamp on things.

GD is taking on the mobile app world!

We have some very exciting news!

After a year and a half of hard work, it is finally time for Groupe Dynamite to officially launch its brand new Studio loyalty program!

We have been in the heart of fashion for over 40 years, so we know our customers pretty well. However, that didn’t stop our President and CEO, Andrew Lutfy, from wanting to know even more. Thus came the idea of creating a loyalty program that would not only help us gain an even deeper understanding of our customer, but would also provide her with added value through exclusive member perks.

We kicked off this project in early 2016 with four months of intensive research; we sent out customer surveys and spoke to employees and our customers in stores so that we could get a sense of what kind of program would fit the customer best. A fun, easy-to-use app was the best way to go!

Let us break this app down for you:

  • There are actually two apps: one for Garage and one for Dynamite.
  • Although there are two apps, the rewards you earn will be accumulated and redeemable in both
  • We opted for a fun reward system; the purchases you make will go towards earning badges that each come with their own reward. Earn all six and you will achieve VIP status, which comes with all kinds of bonus perks!

You might be asking yourself: why two apps instead of one? Our Garage and Dynamite customers are so different, two apps allows us to give them each the most personalized experience possible. While Garage’s app will be geared towards social media and fun quizzes, Dynamite’s will offer shopping and outfitting tips. And since the two apps are linked, your purchases will be registered in both apps, making your rewards redeemable at either banner, online or in-store. Oh, and did we mention this app is free? 😉

Growing underground

Just when we thought our Campus could not get any better, we stand corrected! Incorporating synergy into everything we do and in our people’s everyday life is key to supporting our successful growth! Synergy is a buzzword that we hear a lot at GDI. But what is it? What does it do for us? In short, synergy happens when forces combine to create greater productivity. To create this combined force, we converted our two existing buildings into a campus and connected them with an underground tunnel! Yes, you read that right—a tunnel!

Since its inauguration, not only has it significantly improved the synergy of the entire Head Office, but it has also created a more collaborative and inspiring working space where we are now able to easily walk over to the other building and work together.

It is Ciro Mascarenhas Falluh, our Senior Director, Construction & Property Maintenance, who oversaw every step of this cool project. Read what Ciro has to say about it here!

Grow Talent

Groupe Dynamite has always been dedicated to developing young talent.

Through our very own graduate rotational program and internship program, we create a culture where mentoring and sharing knowledge are key, creating an environment in which the future generation of leaders can truly blossom.

We believe in growing and promoting our in-house talent, as demonstrated in this video!
